 Our roots run deep. As a matter of fact, they run 3 generations deep. The owner of Avanti Salon & Spa, Gary Bilello, grew up knowing the sites, sounds, smells and everything else that went with the beauty business. Gary's grandfather, Joe Bilello, was a barber and owned a barber shop in Brooklyn before moving it to West Babylon. The name of the shop - Joe's Barber Shop. He had a reputation and people would wait for hours just to have him cut their hair and it was said that when he gave you a shave - you never felt the blade on your face.
Gary's father, Anthony, was a cosmetologist and owned a beauty shop in Brooklyn call Anthony's Beauty Salon before he also moved to West Babylon. He (Anthony) owned two salons in Long Island before changing direction and going into teaching - also in the beauty industry.
Gary went to school in NY and studied at Jingles International in Manhattan.
He opened the salon in 1998 with his father Anthony. Gary and Rebecca met in
beauty school and love blossomed. Rebecca, also a licensed cosmetologist,
joined the company in 1999.
In December 2000 we moved the salon to where we are currently and with the new addition of Paul Anthony have 3,700 square feet and about eighteen employees.
